Lets Do It Again Cause One Night Stand Song
FlourishAnyway believes there is a playlist for only about any situation and is on a mission to unite and entertain the world through song.
Hookup Civilisation
Your parents may deny it, and your preacher may frown, only as much equally today'south entertainment and media tend to portray them equally a modern cultural phenomenon, hookups accept always been popular. Casual sexual encounters are
- typically aided by booze
- starting time out as introductions at a party or other public location, and
- don't always involve going all the fashion.
Sometimes, hookups even lead to committed dating relationships.
The downsides of hookups, of course, include the post-obit:
- the much-publicized rubber risks of intimacy with a random stranger, and especially of using hookup apps like Tinder and Grindr
- unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and
- emotional emptiness.
One-night stands are an ever-pop topic in music. Brand a playlist about popular, stone, and country songs about hookups, friends with benefits arrangements, and one-nighttime stands. We won't judge. Nosotros take a long list to start you out.
1. "Hotel Key" by Quondam Dominion
This ain't your mama'south state. In this upbeat 2018 ditty, a homo grows nostalgic near a hookup he had with a woman who left their hotel room with a memento—their hotel cardinal. The couple spent a memorable dark with their wearing apparel strewn all over the flooring, as they talked near their lives, danced, and discovered the location of hidden birthmarks and tattoos. And then they never saw each other again.
Reader Perspective
2. "Stay with Me" by Sam Smith
The man in this 2014 pop song is no stranger to i-night stands. The morning after his latest romp, he realizes that it'southward not love, however he asks his temporary partner to stay and keep him company. Still feeling empty and in need of an emotional connection, he needs an understanding paw to hold.
3. "Perfect Strangers" by Jonas Blue (featuring JP Cooper)
Who knows what the future holds for the two strangers in this 2016 pop vocal who accept simply spent the nighttime together? The narrator swears he's non playing games or wasting the woman's time. He'south open to the possibilities, from walking away to perhaps fifty-fifty developing a lasting relationship. While it'south not incommunicable for hook-ups to transition into stable dating relationships, it does take advice regarding feelings and expectations.
4. "Will You Even so Love Me Tomorrow" past The Shirrelles
Older folks may non desire to admit it, only this 1960 R&B chart-topper shows that hookups were happening back then, too. This was the start song by an all-black girl group to reach the number i spot on the Billboard Hot 100 nautical chart. Information technology describes a young woman who is facing a night of passion but has doubts whether promises spoken in the dark will represent the next morning time's regrets.

v. "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk (featuring Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers)
For good reason, this upbeat 2013 disco throwback tune was a worldwide hit and ane of the best-selling songs of all time. Its energy is positively contagious.
The couple in the song has instantly connected with one another, and the lovers feel a magnetic sexual attraction that lasts well into the next morning:
She's up all night to the sun
I'yard up all dark to go some
She's up all night for skillful fun
I'm up all night to get lucky.
6. "Y'all Shook Me All Nighttime Long" by AC/DC
A truthful staple of hard rock, this 1980 classic describes a man'due south thrilling sexual encounter. While music enthusiasts disagree over the exact meaning of the song, I'yard amidst those who interpret information technology as describing a brief, humdinger of a tryst with a gorgeous adult female.
seven. "Blame" by Calvin Harris (featuring John Newman)
Uh oh. Looks like this lover boy looks over and sees a woman in his bed, then freaks out near how he'south gonna explain his human relationship misstep.
In this 2014 pop vocal, a guilty censor is called-for a hole in the cheating man'due south heart. He decides to confess his sins and blame his one-night stand up on the night. (Let'southward encounter how that goes over with the Mrs.)
eight. "Last Fri" by Katy Perry
How practice you know when you need to go yourself to rehab? If y'all're the Hollywood type, it would be when Fri night partying ways you black out, break the law, and max out the credit cards. The girl in this 2010 popular song then has a ménage à trois with strangers and ends upwards with glitter in her bed and pink flamingos in the pool. She's prepared to repeat her antics next weekend.
ten. "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
In this 1978 soft rock vocal, a despondent, life-weary homo has been unsuccessfully searching for love. He approaches a adult female who seems to similarly demand amore. Although he knows their fourth dimension together will be brusk-lived, he attempts to persuade her to bound in the sack and provide each other mutual comfort.
11. "Hurricane" past Halsey
The narrator in this pop song from 2015 pop song is a immature adult female who felt used by a man she was attracted to. Her way of striking back is to become edgy, unpredictable, and contained—someone who doesn't take whatsoever human attachment or stability in her life:
I'm a wanderess
I'm a one night stand
Don't belong to no metropolis
Don't belong to no man
I'm the violence in the pouring rain
I'm a hurricane.
12. "Don't" by Ed Sheeran
Rumor is it that this 2014 song is about a beloved triangle involving musicians Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, and I Management'due south Niall Horan. The song describes how the narrator, Ed, had a friends with benefits arrangement with Ellie, only their human relationship became more emotional for him than it was for her.
Ah, merely that's the thing about friends with benefits. Things never stay casual. They get complicated and don't end well.
When Ellie had a one-dark stand with Niall—who was Ed's friend at the fourth dimension— Ed saw the tryst as adulterous. Her cold-hearted violation of trust and respect was like a knife to Ed's heart, and this vocal was his mode of publicly rebuking her: "Don't f*ck with my love."

13. "I'm Simply Talkin' Almost Tonight" by Toby Keith
What do you expect in a bar? The lady in this song is hoping to detect someone, beginning as friends, accept it slow, and end upward with a serious dating prospect. But the smart-alecky narrator is a jerk who is just looking for a quickie, nothing more. He makes his intentions known in this 2001 country ditty that he's just talking virtually this evening.
fourteen. "Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy
In that location'southward something very bloodshot virtually an allure that never materialized into the dearest affair you wanted. It represents unrealized potential. The might've-beens can haunt you forever.
In this 2007 pop vocal, a couple share a cursory physical connectedness, and their relationship ways more emotionally to the female narrator than to her partner. At present her middle is broken, and she'southward turned her back on him in an attempt to forget.
15. "Third Rate Romance" by Sammy Kershaw
Behind closed doors at the Family unit Inn, there's a third-rate romance going downwards involving two horny strangers. By sunrise, they'll do their walk of shame back to their corresponding homes.
This humorous 1994 country tune portrays a couple meeting in a ritzy restaurant. The booze flows, and they don't need to utilise much small talk because they knowing exactly what they want. While the adult female claims she's never washed this kinda affair before, her partner admits he's done so simply a time or 2, if yous tin believe that.
16. "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" by Enrique Iglesias (featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E)
There'southward a muddy version of this 2010 Latin song, simply we're going with the cleaner one. This is a sexy, very danceable number that describes a man's pickup pitch. This dude is extremely forward in his presentation, telling the woman he's attracted to that he knows she wants him and its totally mutual.
In fact, the horny fella confidently informs her that tonight he's ... ahem ... "loving" her. And then he proceeds to provide details. This guy is setting the groundwork for either a one-night stand or a major slap in the face.
17. "Petty Scarlet Corvette" by Prince
In this steamy 1983 popular song, the narrator is somewhat intimidated past his partner for the dark. He compares the beautiful and promiscuous woman to a showy, high-end, luxury car, one that's built well nonetheless needs to be valued if it's going to concluding.
They're both in it for the one-night stand, and although he has a good time, he expresses concern for her preference for casual sex: "you're much too fast" and "you need a love that gonna final."
18. "All I Wanna Exercise Is Make Beloved To Yous" by Heart
Call it a hookup with a deceitful purpose. Phone call it incorrect on oh, then many levels.
This 1990 rock vocal tells the story of a woman who is in beloved with her infertile husband. Desperate to conceive, she picks up a young hitchhiker, takes him to a hotel, and has a night of passion with him.
Years later on, she and their love child see the same stranger. When the homo recognizes them, she launches into an awkard explanation for why she took advantage of him rather than pursue another selection for having a baby with her husband. There's something really creepy almost this one. Some say he joined the #MeToo movement.
xix. "Last Name" past Carrie Underwood
Arraign another wham-bam-thank-you lot-ma'am on Jose Cuervo. This fun state vocal from 2008 features a woman who drank likewise much, got a trivial crazy on the dance flooring, and ended up leaving the bar at 3 a.m. with some guy driving a Pinto. The problem was she didn't fifty-fifty know his last proper noun, and when she woke up in Vegas with a ring on her hand, she wasn't sure of hers either.
20. "She Thinks His Name Was John" by Reba McEntire
Bearding sexual practice can sometimes take disastrous consequences, and this gut-wrenching land song from 1994 reminds us of the lifetime impact that i bad conclusion tin can take. In this country ballad, a woman acquires HIV/AIDS from a charming stranger she had a one-night stand with.
Reba was brave for tackling the taboo field of study of HIV/AIDS at the time. Although 1994 wasn't quite the night ages when information technology came to the disease, other music genres and Hollywood were significantly more than vocal in addressing the controversial upshot.
For most a decade, this was nearly all country music had to say on the field of study:
Now each day is one solar day that's left in her life
She won't know love, have a wedlock or sing lullabies
She lays all alone and cries herself to sleep
'Cause she permit a stranger impale her hopes and her dreams
And all her friends say what a pity, what a loss
And in the cease when she was barely hangin' on
All she could say is she thinks his name was John.

Larry - I like your perspective. A relative worked in an STD testing clinic in the DC expanse and evidently it's a thing to hook up with random people in the dark at parties. Only imagine!
My relative is a health professional who tested lots of people for all kinds of yuckies and listened to how they got them, often from coincidental encounters. And it wasn't merely young folks and poor people. It was often elected officials and staffers, businesspeople, etc. They went to the dispensary because no names were used whatsoever, merely numbers. Probably ameliorate off merely to stay at the bar and flirt, although many people are very solitary and disconnected and will accept a take a chance.
Larry Rankin from Oklahoma on September 08, 2018:
Seems like a fun idea in theory, but sex without caring is a harder sale to my torso than my mind.
Sorry if that'south too explicit, lol
Great read.
FlourishAnyway (author) from The states on September 07, 2018:
Natalie - There'due south sooo much codespeak, like "Netflix and chill." While we might think that sounds relaxing, it means to "get decorated" with someone during/after a cheap date watching Netflix at one of your places. Yikes. Amazing how the lingo changes!
Natalie Frank from Chicago, IL on September 06, 2018:
I'm going to age my self as well, but let's hook up when I was a teenager just meant lets assemble subsequently, nothing more than that. At present "dinner and a movie," well. . . that's another matter! You really demand to put a book together with all your playlists! Information technology would be pretty thick. It could brand a practiced coffee table book!
Robert Sacchi on September 03, 2018:

Tim Truzy from United statesA. on August 28, 2018:
Cheers, Flourish,
I'm really glad you lot compiled this list because information technology really is a reminder that the more than things change, the more than things remain the same. I think having a diverse life growing upwardly helps me communicate with my students/clients/church building members. They say: Mr. Truzy keeps it real, whether information technology'south a give-and-take of the spread of STD's (similar you mentioned) or finding a job, and/or worshiping Him.
Thanks for "keeping information technology real" Flourish.
Sincerely,
Tim
Suhail Zubaid aka Clark Kent from Mississauga, ON on August 28, 2018:
Ha-ha then here is a wish list of songs for hard stone bands of the yore.
I am 100% sure that all those 80s hair bands had songs along these lines. I particularly used to like a blues based melodic hard stone band past the name of Great White. The band's albums were replete with songs about ane night encounters. Unfortunately, the band is more known for causing a burn down accident at a dark club in Rhodes Island that killed many people than for its melodic hard rock.
Ac/DC is ranked 2d later Led Zep by Ranker website and this song justifies.
Bang-up list and that vocal by Heart? Well, I would prefer The Runaways over them anytime, but the song is intriguing.
Regards,
Suhail and my domestic dog

Hi, Flourish,
I have two songs for you which may meet your list requirements. In full disclosure, as a youth, I performed in a rap grouping, and therefore, I became familiar with many of these tunes I'm sharing with y'all considering they were popular.
These songs have the same proper name: Practise Me Babe. One is by Prince and the other is by Bell Biv, Devoe, erstwhile members of the R& B group New Edition. Even then, I thought these songs wild and crazy.
Sincerely,
Tim

Speaking of.... Just heard one on the radio from a year or two ago... "Abode Lonely Tonight" past Luke Bryan and that girl from Lilliputian Big Boondocks. Tin can't think of her name right now.
Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on Baronial 26, 2018:
I knew there were quite a few songs nearly i dark stands, and you sure listed a big group. One nighttime stands tin defintely tin have bad consequences as you stated. Drinking too much definitely loosens your inhibitions. The ane nighttime stand was never talked about when I grew up, but I judge that says something about my historic period.
Interesting article!
FlourishAnyway (author) from U.s.a. on August 26, 2018:
Shannon - Terrific additions! Thanks for these! Land music is pretty much fabricated for this. Promise y'all accept a great calendar week.
FlourishAnyway (writer) from USA on August 26, 2018:
Carrie - This was a fun (although challenging) i to write, but then they came pouring along. The Wicked Games songs are unlike. One is almost unrequited love and the other is nearly a hookup while away from the narrator's regular girl. I appreciate you chiming in. I need all the help I can get! Take a nifty week yourself!
Carrie Lee Dark from Northeast United States on August 26, 2018:
Comphrensive !! Felt like I was reading the musical library of lovers !! I like Wicked games by Chris Issack not certain if the weekend did a re-practice or if the title is merely the same. Its astonishing what nosotros can uncover in lyrics. Have a smashing week :)
Shannon Henry from Texas on August 26, 2018:
In that location'southward no utilize crying over spilled perfume..... Thank you, now that song is in my caput. LOL. Information technology always stayed in my head whenever I heard it on the radio, too. Pam Tillis is adept at that.
I think that LeAnn Womack's "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" fits your list here. What about "Alone Optics" past Chris Young?

Well.....Flourish & Genna......"Let's hook up later," at one time (in the good sometime days) it surely DID have an innocent pregnant! I hear you Genna, about the naivety. How I wish I could remain naive but I have too many young adult grandchildren who continually educate their clueless grandmother. I've resorted to telling them that they give me "too much information" and I prefer being a "stupid old lady!"
I read a long list a while ago, of terms that meant i affair, back in our day, but hateful something entirely dissimilar today.
Don't know about y'all ladies, but I resent having to learn a whole new language at my age, just so I don't embarrass myself or trip over my words!
Flourish, another superb commodity! Peace, Paula

Genna - I've heard adults apply the term with friends (as in "let'due south hook up later" when that's not at ALL what they meant. I usually snicker and if appropriate I tell them so they don't make a fool of themselves anymore. Thanks for stopping past and for the song suggestion. Accept a wonderful week.
Genna Eastward from Massachusetts, The states on August 26, 2018:
I'm so naive, I never knew what "hooked up" really meant until recently. I idea it was connecting with a friend. (Lol.) I wonder if the term was originally derived from hooker? But I'm a little concerned over the casualness of our youth (teenagers) in hooking up. Loved this music! Thank you, as always. Does Tina Turner'southward "What's Dearest Got to Practise With Information technology" fit the category? I'm not sure.

Linda - Cheers for being a good sport and reading even though you don't typically know the songs! I capeesh you.
FlourishAnyway (author) from Usa on August 26, 2018:
Bob - On the Sammy Kershaw song, sometimes I include cover versions instead of the original, and this was just ane of those times. Members of the Rhythm Aces actually backed him upward on the vocals, which is neat. Calculation the Four Seasons vocal. Thanks for the song proffer!
Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on August 25, 2018:
Every bit ever, I capeesh your enquiry and your descriptions. I don't know whatsoever of the songs, but they certainly sound interesting!
Robert Sacchi on August 25, 2018:
Another fun list. There was a 70'due south version of "Third Rate Romance", by the Rhythm Aces. There was also "December, 1963" besides known equally "Oh what a night", The Four Seasons.
I dear "Angel of the Morning time", I observe the vocal haunting.
FlourishAnyway (author) from United states of america on August 25, 2018:
Tim - Thanks for the song suggestions. I added LL Absurd J'southward song (which I wasn't familiar with and which definitely fit, omg). 3rd Charge per unit Romance was indeed a cover by Sammy Kershaw. It was first recorded back in 1975, and some of the members of the band backed upwards Sammy Kershaw on his version of it. Cheers for stopping by. This was a fun one to put together, inspired past a question from a reader.
Tim Truzy from U.s.a.A. on August 25, 2018:
This was keen, Flourish. Howdy, Flourish,
I read this and smiled. I accept never been one for the one dark stands, nonetheless, many of these tunes are familiar to me.
Here is a few more I thought about:
Billy Joel"Just the Good Dice Young. Isn't the narrator trying to encourage the Catholic girl, Virginia, to "come out?"
LL Cool J."Backseat." The narrator says dorsum seat of my jeep, "Let's kick an episode.
Freddy Jackson: Rock Me This night for Quondam Time Sake. In this melody, the narrator talks near how he loves this girl, simply they only claw upward occasionally. Does that count? There isn't much of a human relationship going on in the song. In fact, he says: "So much has happened in my life since nosotros've parted. How about you?"
This was a fun to read list of songs about a common topic of different types of music. That song, 3rd Rate Romance, isn't it a remake?
Thanks,
Sincerely,
Tim

Linda Lum from Washington Land, USA on August 25, 2018:
Flourish, Ann Wilson has a vocalism that is listen-bravado, and her sis Nancy is ane of the best guitarists. Period. They were born and raised in the Seattle surface area, so I've always loved them and followed their career. Their song is the one I immediately thought of when I read the title of this commodity.
The "new" songs (i.e. anything written after 1980 LOL) I accept to acknowledge I'm not familiar with. I adore the amount of research y'all put into these. Well done.

Neb - Can you fifty-fifty imagine that funny song taking identify? Might not be and so funny if y'all're the guy in it and not expecting Lola to be a human.

Heidi - At the time it was pop, I was singing along on the radio non thinking nearly what the heck the lyrics meant (and probably non getting all of them right either). It strikes me as super odd that she selected a freaking hitchhiker as the father of her child, and she mentions he was young, too. I'yard hoping he was at least of consent age. Super strange, a dangerous affair to practice picking up a stranger in the rain. I think of murder, STDs, and all kinds of bad stuff. She didn't even give the dude breakfast in the morning and left him still stranded in a hotel with his clothes yet damp!
Louise Powles from Norfolk, England on August 25, 2018:
I'one thousand glad you put Carrie Underwood in there. She's got a lovely voice.
Frances Metcalfe from The Limousin, French republic on August 25, 2018:
Hi Flourish - a actually entertaining and often humerous commodity. Definitely in the danger zone here - the lesson is be very careful and don't hurt anyone!
Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on August 25, 2018:
Lola for certain....one of the funnier songs to come out of the Sixties....way ahead of its fourth dimension. The other one I thought of was Bob Seger's.....showing my age again.
Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on August 25, 2018:
Flourish, this culture was not a practice when I was growing up. Oh my, only confessing my age. Each generation has its own unique trend. Equally yous've placed here, women at kickoff feel flattered but regret it later on. The songs express very well the many feelings involved in the experience.
Heidi Thorne from Chicago Area on Baronial 25, 2018:
Dang, girl! Then I open HP this morning time and wake upward to this steamy playlist. :)
The one that I thought of right away was #18 by Center. Aye, kind of weird with so many options and adoptions bachelor. And how virtually perfect timing with that? And she was gambling on a stranger being, um, not in the same situation as her hubby. How'd she do that? Don't know well-nigh yous, but I couldn't tell just from looking at a guy. Maybe she had some screening questionnaire? Nothing awkward almost that.
Oh well, thanks for starting my day with a grinning! Happy Weekend!
